The dress is *almost* done. I have to whip the tippets into place on the sleeve bands and THEN the dress will be done. I decided to make the tippets totally separate so that if I need to, I can easily remove them if I just want to wear a short sleeve overgown without tippets hanging all over the place. I had to try it all on so I could position the tippets in the right place. I think I will go with them in this position:
I hope to get better pictures of the dress tomorrow, which is, of course, the day of the Festival. :) Maybe I can convince David to let me pose with his sword. . .
Love,
Sarah
Dear Sarah,
ReplyDeleteWhat fun and what a wonderful set of colors on you!
Very best,
Natalie
I like it very much! Have fun tomorrow :)
ReplyDeletethis is so elegant and beautiful! i never thought i'd like medieval fashion, but you make it so feminine and flattering!
ReplyDeleteYou look so lovely! The dress turned out beautifully -- the trouble with the pink dye certainly had a happy ending. Have a wonderful day tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteSarah, you are lovely in the gown. Have fun in your new 'world' tomorow.
ReplyDeletePam
Its looking great. The colours go really well.
ReplyDeleteSarah, as always I so enjoy your blog.
ReplyDeleteI am getting the font size of a size 8,very little for bad eyes to read. Is this something that you have changed or is it something from my PC. Of course, you use whatever you wish on your site. I was just wondering. Your dress is beautiful!
Thank you for sharing. Deborah
Deborah, I am not sure what font size it is, but I haven't changed anything as far as settings go - thanks for letting me know! I will check into it and see if it is a problem on my end. I hate reading tiny font, too!
ReplyDelete@deborah what browser are you using? There should be a a way to change what text size you see.
ReplyDeleteSarah,
ReplyDeleteYour dress is so lovely -- the colors are so wonderful, and once again you astonish me with your resourcefulness and creativity!
And I just noticed the little counter in your sidebar -- Congratulations! I hope and pray that you are blessed with a healthy pregnancy!
Blessings,
Shannon
Absolutely amazing, you look like a painting!
ReplyDeleteThe dress looks absolutely gorgeous, Sarah. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
ReplyDeleteOhh, I love it! Your posts about this are making me really want to get on with making a costume for The Hobbit later this year. The pink is amazing (though pink usually is not my favourite colour)... very soft, and it goes with the green so well. Like spring is creeping back.
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely, I especially like the linen-y look of it, even more than the wool textured one. The color is very very beautiful on you.
ReplyDeleteI had a technical question
How do you get the lacing not to "pull up" on the lowest point? I found when I tried to lace my kirtle, the tension in the lacing higher up on the bodice distributed throughout the cord, and pulled the lowest point up so that it hung funny. How do you get it to hand smoothly like that?
and I would love to see the sword picture! :)
ReplyDeleteWhere did you get your linen? I'm looking for a good source for natural fiber fabrics
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Love the dress but how did you fit it?
