On Memorial Day weekend the military history museum in Fairborn, Ohio hosts a small encampment demonstrating military history; not just American, as some Soviet units were present. Our Vietnam unit has been going here the past few years and this year Judah's girlfriend Rosemary joined us. Since Benjamin wanted to attend and is not yet old enough to have a military impression we both dressed as 1960's civilians.
Here are a few photos from the event. The site for the encampment adjoins a fenced area where disaster recovery training is carried out. There are some old helicopters in the field and we were lucky enough to be allowed inside to take some pictures.
I made my dress several years ago from some vintage cotton fabric using a combination of vintage early 1960's patterns. It is a shirtwaist dress that buttons up the front and has a fold down collar, narrow gathered sleeves with tall cuffs and a slightly A line gathered skirt. I hemmed the skirt above the knee for a later 1960's look.
