Happiness Is. . .

. . .a yellow silk bonnet! I've been working on this hand sewing project lately and it seems all of a sudden my project is done, and it is September and this autumn promises to be cool enough to wear it.

This material started out as a sleeveless top I bought at the thrift store for $1 earlier this year. Silk tops and toddlers don't go together that well, so it became a bonnet. I had just enough and used up lots of scraps for the lining and wadding. I'm so happy with it. It's such a cheerful little bonnet to look at!

  1. It's stunning, and I love that you repurpose everyday items from thrift stores into treasures! Which is also historically accurate!

    1. Thank you so much! It is satisfying to rework garments. Plus, way more affordable than buying new materials. I did love the shirt (beads! fringe!) but it works so much better as a bonnet.
