I didn't backstitch these, but think that they pucker because there is just too much excess fabric there. But then again, some things (Like some 1950/60's dresses) obviously have darts but are NOT really that fitted in the bodice, just the waist is nipped in. So much to learn still!Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06713535191616985475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237278258771812379.post-33103220689796065842012-04-23T17:07:00.341-05:002012-04-23T17:07:00.341-05:00I'm sure you've heard this little trick to...I'm sure you've heard this little trick to make darts lay flat... maybe not. I've found it helpful to NOT back stitch (saywhat?!) just tie your loose threads in a knot, then iron the bejeezes out of it. Keep up the lovely work!RabidGlowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05761129707982815212noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237278258771812379.post-51202898164959180572012-04-20T20:46:44.622-05:002012-04-20T20:46:44.622-05:00Sarah, I'm always amazed at your creativity an...Sarah, I'm always amazed at your creativity and sewing skills.

You have my sympathies in the ill fitting department. I've been working on an 1870's bodice that has been nothing short of a nightmare. Thanks for the inspiration to keep working on it!Heidihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14308396459262622191noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237278258771812379.post-90373791566242814602012-04-20T19:24:25.114-05:002012-04-20T19:24:25.114-05:00I had the exact opposite problems with my sacque! ...I had the exact opposite problems with my sacque! The bodice fit wonderfully but the sleeves needed alterations. However, it wasn't that big of a deal, they just needed to be taken in a bit.melissamaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08154570198525088430noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237278258771812379.post-80492113724090718192012-04-20T12:53:08.806-05:002012-04-20T12:53:08.806-05:00Thanks for your sympathy and kind words! So far they are making me happy. :) As long as this is wearable for our event next month I guess I shouldn't be so worried about it, but it IS so disillusioning to not have things go right. :(Sarahhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06713535191616985475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6237278258771812379.post-81192151240540404702012-04-20T10:26:02.134-05:002012-04-20T10:26:02.134-05:00I'm also making a sacque!
